People in Girvan and South Carrick are being encouraged to show their support for local community groups by voting on their favourites. The latest decision day takes place on Saturday, 17 March at Colmonell Primary School.

The Girvan and South Carrick locality planning group event is part of a drive to get people actively involved in local decision making known as 'Participatory Budgeting'.

Building on the success of recent community funding decision days, this latest marketplace event will see 17 groups display ideas for community projects to local people who are being invited to drop-in to vote to award funding.

Up to £40,000 is available at the event, with grants available up to £5000  Voting is open to anyone who lives, works, volunteers or studies in Girvan, Dailly, Barr, Colmonell, Lendalfoot, Ballantrae, Barrhill & Pinmore aged 10+.

The money is being made available from South Ayrshire Council, South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, and Community Choices.

At the previous event in South Carrick the community voted to prioritise bids which support people with dementia, those living in isolation, people with poor Mental Health, while also taking into account the needs of rural communities, or the Glendoune area of Girvan.

The 'Decision Day' event takes place at Colmonell Primary School on Saturday, 17 March 2018 between 10.30am and 12pm.
