Asymptomatic COVID-19 test facility coming to Girvan
A Mobile Test Site has been set up in Girvan this week to help tackle the 'silent spread' of COVID-19.
The test site is located at the Quay Zone, Knockcushan Street, Girvan. This will allow a targeted programme of testing to be carried out on those who are not displaying symptoms of the virus.
The facility will operate by appointment only and will be open as follows:
- Friday 5 February – 10.00am – 6.00pm
Tests are free, quick and easy, and you can expect results back within 24-48 hours. Traffic management will be in place at and around the site.
You can book an appointment online from 6.00pm on Thursday 4 February at https://www.nhsinform.scot/test-and-protect (please select 'No, none of these symptoms' when prompted), or by calling NHS Inform on 0800 028 2816 if you don't have internet access. Morning appointments will be open for bookings the evening before, and further slots will be released on the day itself for afternoon appointments that same day. If you can't get an appointment to suit straight away, please keep trying as new appointments will appear regularly.
Asymptomatic testing is crucial to slowing the spread of coronavirus. This Mobile Test Site will make it possible to identify more people who are infected with COVID-19, allowing them to isolate quickly and limit the spread to others.
Councillor Peter Henderson, Leader of South Ayrshire Council said: "Please do your bit to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and book an appointment to be tested at the Mobile Test Unit in Girvan on Friday. Testing really does play a key role in helping to suppress this virus, and I would like to thank residents in advance for making time to take a test."
If you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19, you should book a test at www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or call 0300 303 2173 if you don't have internet access.
