Congratulations to Sarah Beatson
South Ayrshire Provost, Helen Moonie, and former South Ayrshire Depute Provost, Mary Kilpatrick, visited residents who have celebrated a special birthday or anniversary. Due to pre-election restrictions now being lifted, South Ayrshire Council would like to congratulate them on their special day.
100th birthday celebration for Sarah Beatson
Mrs Sarah Beatson from Doonfoot in Ayr, has celebrated her 100th birthday. Sarah was born in Paisley on 8 April 1917 during the Great War.
She was introduced to her future husband William by a friend before the start of the Second World War. Sarah was in the Auxiliary Territorial Service for 3 years based in Leeds, while William served in the 8th Army in the Tank Corps in the Western Desert.
Sarah and William were married in Glasgow in 1943 and lived in Paisley until semi-retirement, when they moved to Doonfoot. Sarah and William have one child, Jim, born in 1944 and have two grandchildren Rosalind and Stuart.
Living a long and happy life is a family tradition as Sarah's mother received a telegram from the Queen on her 100th birthday and Sarah's grandmother, who was originally from Tiree, lived until the grand old age of 99.
Sarah was visited by South Ayrshire Provost, Helen Moonie, on 7 April and presented with a card to celebrate the occasion.
Diamond wedding celebrations for William and Margaret Scott
William and Margaret Scott from Annbank have celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.
William is originally from Mossblown and Margaret comes from Glasgow. The couple lived in Pleasantfield, Prestwick after getting married and Pleasantfield is also the name of their current house in Annbank!
Mrs Scott has been involved in the Red Cross all her life and the couple have one daughter. Former South Ayrshire Depute Provost, Mary Kilpatrick visited the couple on 29 March and presented them with a card to mark the special day.
Diamond wedding celebrations for John and Carol Douglas
John and Carol Douglas have celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. The couple from Ayr, went to the same school and met in Coia's café and Ayr Ice Rink.
They were married at Lochside Church by the Reverend Samuel Stewart. The couple have five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
