What can I borrow?
How many items can I borrow and what if I return an item late?
You can borrow up to 10 items for 4 weeks. DVDs you can borrow per day. Fines for late items.
Overdue reminders by email
We do send out over dues to remind you of late items. These can be emailed to you
if you supply us with your email address. You can do this by popping into the library
or by
signing into your library account and selecting the ‘Modify Personal Info’
button. Simply enter your email address in the space provided and select submit,
you can update these details at any time.
Find what you are looking for on our Library catalogue and place requests (it’s
free)
Browse what we have available for lending from the comfort of your own home by visiting
our
online catalogue. If you find something you would like to borrow, simply
sign in
to your library account using your library card number and PIN code. If an item
is available you can place requests free of charge. If you are unsure how to do
this visit our sign in help or our request help section.
audiobooks
For those who enjoy listening to a good book we have a great selection of audio
titles and Playaways. These may also be of particular interest to our customers
with visual impairment.
Books
We have a wide range of titles available for you to borrow including: fiction and
non-fiction, classics to the latest bestsellers; biographies, travel, cookery, history
and much more. Some titles are also available in larger print.
eBooks and eAudio
eReads are downloadable books and audiobooks, which you can read or listen to on
your computer and / or on a mobile device such as an eBook reader, mobile phone,
iPod, or MP3 player. All you need is a computer, an internet connection, a valid
South Ayrshire Library card and PIN code.

DVDs
We have a great selection of the latest DVD releases available for loan. New release DVDs are available to borrow per day, at a cost of £1 per night. Films six months or older are available to borrow for only £1 per week.
Magazines
Carnegie library has a variety of popular magazines available for one week
loan including: Good Food, Digital Camera, Weightwatchers, Top Gear, Gardener’s
World and many more.
Monomouse (Visual Impairment Aid)
Bierley MonoMouse is a hand held electronic magnifier that plugs into your television.
It is simple to install and is perfect for reading newspapers, bills and books,
bank statements and much more. This service is available from Alloway, Carnegie, Girvan, Maybole, Prestwick and Troon libraries.
