Classes can be booked online or by calling the Citadel reception on 01292 269793. Participants may turn up on the day but are not guaranteed a space. These classes take place at the Citadel unless stated otherwise.

All non-member bookings whether it be for a class or an activity will have to be paid for at the time of booking. This can be done in person at the reception or over the phone.

Class descriptions | Timetable | Prices

  • Aerobics
    Aerobics is an exercise class designed for all fitness levels. The instructor will take you through a variety of bodyweight exercises that are set to music. These exercises are designed to raise your heart rate and improve muscular strength and endurance as well as cardio vascular fitness.
  • Aqua Fit
    Aqua Fit is a high energy low impact aerobic workout in the pool that is designed for all fitness levels. Thanks to the buoyancy of water, you’ll be strengthening your muscles and improving your cardiovascular fitness without subjecting your body to additional wear and tear leaving you feeling strong and energised.
  • Barbell Conditioning
    This challenging class is designed to tone and strengthen your full body using a barbell to target all the major muscle groups. The instructor will guide you through a number of exercises focusing on prober technique to help you get the most from your workout.
  • Box Fit
    Box fit is a cardiovascular workout with classes lasting 45 minutes. It is based on the training used for boxing so it includes skipping, boxing drills, pad work and body weight circuits, all focusing on building fitness as well as strengthening and conditioning the entire body.
  • Body Tone
    Body Tone is a full body conditioning and strengthening workout, improving functional strength, flexibility and co-ordination. It is also excellent for core strength. The class will incorporate cardiovascular, strength and core exercises to help you target all of those problem areas.
  • Boot Camp
    Boot Camp is high intensity military-style fitness class designed to improve overall fitness. This full body workout involves a combination of bodyweight exercises and free weight exercises that will help boost your strength and endurance.
  • Circuits
    Circuit training is a high intensity class incorporating a combination of body weight exercises and equipment such as slam balls, resistance bands and kettlebells to strengthen and condition the full body. This 60 minute class is designed for all fitness levels with the instructor adapting the exercises to meet all individual needs.
  • Dance Fit
    This dance themed fitness class is suitable for all fitness levels. A fun and enjoyable class set to music which will burn calories and help tone your entire body.
  • ETM (Exercise To Music)
    ETM is a group workout class led by a qualified instructor in time to music. It’s a fun, exciting and time efficient workout that pushes the body. ETM is suitable for everyone whether the goal is to tone the body, burn calories, learn a dance, or simply to enjoy exercising.
  • Express synergy
    The ultimate 30 minute high intensity small group training workout combining body weight exercises, free weights, suspension trainers, battle ropes and other functional movements, all based around our synergy 360 rig.
  • Express conditioning
    A cardio based high energy total body workout which is designed to burn maximum calories and improve your cardio conditioning. This is high-intensity interval training with explosive exercises designed to keep the body moving and your heart pumping to gain the most from your work-out all within 30 minutes.
  • Express Core
    Express core is a 30 minute non-aerobic, muscle toning class, focused on core strength. Most of these classes will use medicine balls, exercise bands, kettlebells and swiss balls or a combination of this equipment to help you build a strong core.
  • Express Cycling
    Express cycling is a 30 minute high intensity interval style cycling class. This class is a great cardiovascular workout, incorporating hill climbs, sprints, and many other challenging drills and exercises. All fitness levels are welcome.
  • Express kettlebells
    Express kettlebells is high intensity class incorporating full-body exercises requiring full body integration and core stabilisation. Kettlebell training will build long lean muscles, improve strength and power in the upper body, core and lower body and increase co-ordination, joint mobility and overall endurance.
  • Fit camp Gold
    A challenging but enjoyable workout suitable for all fitness levels! This is a low impact studio cycling workout mixed in with the latest circuit series machines with the intent of conditioning the entire body.
  • Float Fit
    Float Fit classes are 30 minute classes all on water! These low impact classes give a fun full body workout with a mixture of HIIT and Yoga inspired movement to suit all abilities.
  • Functional X
    Functional X is a high intensity fitness class incorporating varied types of functional movements from gymnastics exercises to kettlebells, Olympic lifting, rowing and much more.
  • Grow
    Fun and fitness on water. An action-packed class designed to motivate children to stay active and maintain a happy, healthy lifestyle. Recommended for children 8 years and over who are able to swim.
  • Pilates
    Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility to improve core strength, fitness and overall well-being.
  • Power Step
    Put one foot in front of the other, and you’re stepping! Power Step brings you athletic training moving on, around, and over the platform. A one-stop shop to get cardio, strength and balance in one class. Familiar moves set to new patterns and music inspire you to sweat and have a great time dissolving calories.
  • Stretch and Relax
    This is fun but challenging class that fuses Pilates and Yoga exercises. You will burn calories, tone muscles and work on balance and flexibility.
  • Summit
    This 30 minute high intensity water workout, incorporating burpees, rockers and press-ups is more than enough to get you to reach your peak.
  • Tabata
    This 30 minute Tabata style fitness class on water revolutionary is a high intensity low impact, cross training workout using the world’s first fitness float.
  • WAR
    WAR is mixed martial art athletic training set to motivating music, made to fit in an express time slot. Easy to follow fight patterns and drills create a HIIT effect that will give you all you need to improve your cardiovascular strength and endurance.
  • Weight Lifting Fundamentals
    Each class is part of a 7 week programme and will focus on a series of specific lifts. The instructor will give guidance on technique and teach you how to lift weights safely and effectively. The class is designed for anyone who wants to know how to lift free weights correctly and prevent injuries while training within the gym. These sessions will last 45 minutes and will be taken in small groups, so the instructor has more personalised time with each person.
  • Yoga
    Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. The main components of yoga are postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility) and breathing.
