Christmas & New Year service arrangements

All council offices - with the exception of those listed below - will close at 4pm on Friday 22 December 2017 and re-open at 8.45am on Wednesday 3 January 2018.

Bin collections during the festive season

If your wheeled bin or food waste caddy is due for collection on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, collections are as follows: Blue Bins (Saturday 23rd and 30th), Green Bins (Sunday 24th and 31st), Food Waste Bins should be presented on both Saturdays and left out to be collected between Saturday and Sunday. ALL BINS MUST BE PRESENTED BY 6AM.

Collections on Boxing Day and 2nd January will be carried out as normal unless you are notified of alternative arrangements by letter. ALL BINS MUST BE PRESENTED BY 6AM.

Check your bin day

There will be no special uplift collections from Friday 22nd December until Monday 8th January.

Community recycling centres

Community recycling centres at Troon, Maybole and Girvan will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and 2nd January. Normal operating hours will apply outwith these times.

Ayr Recycling Centre will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day and will close at 3pm on Boxing Day and 2nd January. This site will close at 3pm both weekends over the festive period.

Remember you can recycle your Christmas cards and wrapping paper in the blue bin. You can also arrange for your real Christmas tree to be recycled free in your brown bin by visiting www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/winterbins/ or telephoning 0300 123 0900 to arrange an uplift.

Commercial waste

Commercial Waste normally collected on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day will be collected as follows: Recycling Bins (Saturday 23rd and 30th), General Waste, Food Waste and Glass (Sunday 24th and 31st). Cardboard Collections (Saturday 23rd and Sunday 31st). Commercial customers requiring additional collection over the festive period should call 01292 616436 by Friday 22nd December.


Customer service centres

The Customer Service Centres in Girvan, Maybole, Prestwick, Troon and The Wallace Tower, Ayr will be closed until 3rd January 2018, however on the 27th, 28th and 29th December Customer Services will be offering a limited service by telephone on 0300 123 0900.

All our customer Service Centres will re-open on Wednesday 3 January 2018 at 9am.

Payments can be made at anytime at www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/payments or by using the automated payment line available 24 hours a day on 0300 123 0900 press option 1 then option 3.

Swimming lessons stop on Sunday 24 December 2017 and resume as normal on Saturday 6 January 2018.

Please note that all registrations for South Ayrshire will be operating from Ayr Registration Office over the Festive Season. Girvan Registration Office will close on Friday 22nd December 2017 at 4.00pm and re-open on Tuesday 9th January 2018 at 8.45am.

Libraries

Alloway, Forehill and Maybole libraries will close at their usual time on Friday 22 December 2017 and re-open on Wednesday 3 January 2018.

Ballantrae, John Rodie, Symington and Tarbolton libraries will close at their usual time on Friday 22 December 2017 and re-open on Thursday 4 January 2018.

Carnegie, Girvan, Prestwick and Troon libraries will close on Saturday 23 December at 4pm and re-open on Wednesday 3 January 2018.

Museums

Rozelle House and Maclaurin Art Galleries will close at 5pm on Saturday 23 December 2017 and re-open at 10am on Wednesday 3 January 2018.

The McKechnie Institute will close at 4pm on Saturday 23 December 2017 and re-open at 1pm on Wednesday 3 January 2018.
