Explore Culzean's Caves
Where: Culzean Castle and Country Park KA19 8LE
When: Thursday 02 April 2020 at Varies View all dates
We're offering the chance for visitors to don hard hats and explore Culzean Castle's subterranean secret world! With limited spaces, guided tours are a must-see attraction for those who like to explore Scotland's history from a different angle.
From being used as a smuggling hideaway in the 1700s – when it's thought that contraband made its way ashore from the Isle of Man and was hidden along the coast – to the tale of a piper who entered the cave and was never seen again, this place is rich with intrigue and secrets.
2020 is the Year of Coasts & Waters, a celebration of Scotland's vast array of lochs, waterways, islands and coastlines. The caves and the coastline are an extraordinary part of Culzean's colourful history and our tours will be guided by the Trust's expert rangers, who'll take visitors through the chambers and share their knowledge of the caves' extraordinary past.
Please note participants must be able to walk over the rocky shore to access the caves; this event is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Children must be aged 8 years or older, and all those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing; wellingtons or stout boots are recommended.
Cave helmets with head torches will be supplied.
Standard Country Park admission applies to non-National Trust for Scotland members.
Cost: Adult £12, Child £8
