Ayr Choral Spring Concert on Sunday 25th March 2018 in Ayr Town Hall features two well known and loved 20th Century composers – Leonard Bernstein and John Rutter. A performance of Bernstein's dramatic and moving Chichester Psalms with full orchestra will be Ayr Choral's contribution to 'Bernstein 100' – a worldwide celebration marking the centenary of the birth of the composer, conductor, musician and humanitarian. The concert also features Rutter's Magnificat – first performed in 1990 in the Carnegie Hall, New York – a joyful choral favourite with energetic rhythms and lyrical melodies.
The Choir, and City of Glasgow Symphony Orchestra, will be conducted by Gerard Doherty and the Soprano soloist is Charlie Drummond. The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from Ayr Choral members, the Gaiety Theatre, and on line at www.ayrchoralunion.
