Alistair McCulloch Trio

Where: The Gaiety, Carrick Street, Ayr KA7 1NU
When: Saturday 18 July 2020 at 7.30pm

The 'Alistair McCulloch Trio' annual Scottish tour has become a firm fixture on the traditional music calendar and we are proud to feature one of these celebrated tour dates in our Gaiety schedule for 2020. Featuring renowned Ayrshire fiddler McCulloch, alongside past Scottish folk instrumentalist of the year, Aaron Jones of Old Blind Dogs (bouzouki, guitar and vocals) and founder member of Capercaillie Marc Duff (whistles), the trio has gained a formidable reputation for its dynamic concert performances.

Alistair McCulloch is one of Scotland's most established fiddle performers, teachers and composers and one of the fiddle instructors at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Alistair is the only fiddler allowed to play the 'Gregg' violin which is owned by the National Trust for Scotland and a museum piece at the Burns Museum in Alloway. The instrument was owned and played by William Gregg who was dance teacher to Robert Burns at the Bachelors Club in Tarbolton in the 1770s.

Collectively Alistair, Aaron and Marc have appeared on dozens of albums. Their widely acclaimed 'Off the Hook' release perfectly encapsulates the feel of their live shows, blending traditional, contemporary and self-penned material, showcasing the combined talents of three of Scotland's most respected and established traditional musicians.

Cost £: £14 - £16
