Renting the property yourself
If you are thinking of letting your property, it is essential that you are aware
of your legal rights and responsibilities. One of the first things you will need
to do is
register as a landlord.
You will need to consider how you are going to advertise the property for let, setting
rent levels and ensuring the property meets a suitable letting standard.
You could sell your property on the open market and advertise with a local Estate
Empty homes are frequently sold at property auctions.
The council are introducing the
Matchmaker Scheme which allows empty home owners to list their properties
for sale. Potential buyers will also be listed and where
there is a match the Empty Homes Officer will pass the potential buyers contact
details to the empty home owner.
