Supported employment

The Supported Employment programme is a targeted programme for people between 16 –and 30 who have additional support needs.

Our dedicated Supported Employment team work with participants on a one to one basis, developing tailored programmes to meet individual needs. The programme helps participants to gain confidence, resilience and determination to move into employment or further education.

Supported Employment – Tailored Jobs Scheme

To enhance the Supported Employment programme, the Council is providing funding of £165, 000 to create around 16 new, tailored, part-time jobs. These jobs will be specifically created for young people who are participating in the programme and are ready to progress into work to help them into sustained employment. Our team will work with young people to create a number of jobs in council and local workplaces which are specifically designed to suit each individual young person’s circumstances. The jobs will be designed around the skills, interests and capabilities of the young person, who will be supported throughout by a dedicated Employability and Skills Officer.
