Voting in the European election

To be able to take part in the European Parliament election on 23 May 2019, you must be registered to vote by Tuesday 7 May 2019.

If you are registered to vote but won’t be available or don’t want to vote at a polling place on Thursday 23 May, you can apply for either a postal vote (where you receive your ballot paper in the post, complete it at home and return by post) or a proxy vote (where someone casts your vote on your behalf at the polling place).

The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 8 May 2019.

The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 15 May 2019.

If you need more information about registering to vote or applying for postal or proxy votes, please visit or call the Electoral Registration Office on 01292 612221.
