Girvan Leisure and Community Facility

The Council and South Carrick Community Leisure are now consulting on views on the plans for the £8 million leisure and community facility at Girvan Harbour and a series of public drop-in exhibitions showing the plans, models and images of the proposed facility. The exhibition can be viewed on the following dates and times:

  • 10am-4pm on Monday 2 December
  • 10am-4pm on Wednesday 4 December
  • 10am-4pm on Monday 9 December
  • 10am-4pm on Wednesday 11 December
  • 10am-4pm on Monday 16 December
  • 10am-4pm on Wednesday 18 December

Proposals for the 3,425 square metre facility include:

  • a four-lane swimming pool and teaching pool, with associated viewing gallery;
  • a children’s soft play area;
  • a cafe;
  • a community hall for theatre, cinema and other activities;
  • a fitness suite;
  • a rooftop viewing gallery with panoramic views towards Ailsa Craig; and
  • civic space, parking and landscaping.

The external designs propose the creation of an iconic landmark at the site of the former swimming pool, beach pavilion and existing parking area at Knockcushan Street in the South Ayrshire town.
