Ayr Your Views – Riverside site
Update May 2020
Riverside site online public event
Following two previous public consultation events at the Grain Exchange, High Street, Ayr, we would like to invite you to our third and
final online event prior to submission of the scheme to South Ayrshire Council Planning department. In light of the Coronavirus pandemic
all information will be available online.
You will be able to view images and narrative on the proposals for the site, which have been developed in line with suggestions arising from
the Ayr Your Views campaign, and at all times have been mindful of the public's desire to open up the site retaining views of the historic
Ayr Town Hall. The information will be available to view and comment on until Monday 25 May 2020.
Members of the public wishing to comment on the proposed development are invited to do so in writing, or by email to the agent

Update 16 March 2020
Riverside site public engagement (19 March) cancelled
In light of recent Government advice, the public engagement event at the Grain Exchange on Thursday 19 March 2020 for the Riverside Public
Events Space in Ayr, has been cancelled. We will be exploring alternative ways of sharing the latest plans and will provide further information once they are confirmed.
Austin-Smith:Lord and South Ayrshire Council are delighted to invite you to join the design team to discuss final draft design proposals for the
new riverside public space on Ayr High Street. This is the third and final public consultation event for the project following an initial ideas
workshop in November and an emerging design proposals exhibit in January. Both events were attended by over 200 members of the public. As a direct
response to the feedback received, final draft design proposals have been developed for the space situated on the vacant High Street site, adjacent
to the River Ayr and Town Hall.
The event will take place on Thursday 19th March, between 1pm and 8.00pm, at The Grain Exchange, 77-81 High Street.
This is a free to attend drop-in event where we welcome your participation in shaping final proposals ahead of a formal planning submission. The event
will include presentations throughout the day; WAVEparticle will be introducing and inviting contributions to an art strategy linked to proposals for
the site with presentations at 1.30pm and 4.00pm respectively. Additionally a talk from the design team will take place at 6.30 pm which will culminate
in an open discussion and Q&A session.
This is your final opportunity to shape developing proposals for this highly significant space within Ayr town centre with your feedback feeding directly
into the emerging proposals.
Please download an
Event Briefing Pack updating you on the Ayr Riverside Project and inviting you to attend the Public Consultation on Thursday 19th March 2020.
Update January / February 2020
Recently, on 29 January, we held a second, follow-up consultation event showcasing emerging design proposals based directly on your feedback from the previous consultation
in November.
As a response to the feedback received, we will start to develop draft design proposals for the space situated on the vacant High Street site, adjacent to the River Ayr
and Town Hall. This will culminate in a third and final consultation where we will showcase draft design proposals in Spring 2020 (dates and times tbc).
These public engagement events have been set up to gain an insight into the local perception of the Riverside Site and fundamentally establish what you, as part of the
local community, would like to see on the site. Throughout this process we are looking to gain as much local insight and feedback as possible so would to love to hear
your thoughts!
Please have a look through the content and leave any comments or suggestions you have either by clicking the comments link below. If you have filled out a written feedback sheet
from the consultation event and would like to post your feedback to Austin-Smith:Lord, 296 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, G2 5RU.
Update December 2019
Following on from the positive feedback from the recent Ayr Your Views consultation for the Ayr Riverside site, proposals are being developed for a new public
space situated on the riverside site, adjacent to the High Street. Recently, on 13 November, we held a public engagement event at The Grain
Exchange, 77-81 High Street, Ayr, where 218 of you turned up to Ayr Your Views. The event was the first in a series of planned collaborative public events
looking to gain an insight into the local perception of the Riverside Site and fundamentally establish what you, as part of the local community, would like to
see on the site.
Throughout this process we are looking to gain as much local insight and feedback as possible. Please have a look through the content and leave any comments
or suggestions you have below.
