Youth Forum
What is South Ayrshire Youth Forum?
South Ayrshire Youth Forum are young people from around South Ayrshire who believe
that every young person should have a voice in the issues which affect them.
We want to know the views of all young people in South Ayrshire on the things which
they think are important, so that we can tell decision makers what young people
want!
We feed the views of young people from South Ayrshire into the Scottish Youth Parliament
and also the UK Youth Parliament, so that we have an Impact on National Policy.
How Does it Work?
The Youth Forum is a Completely Youth-led organisation, which is supported by South
Ayrshire Council.
An Executive Committee is elected at each Annual General Meeting, who organise the
day to day running of the organisation, make the important decisions, and set up
the direction for the youth Forum.
Executive Committee meetings take place every month, and we aim to hold general
Meeting open to all young people in South Ayrshire.
Consultations
The youth forum has organised loads of consultation events, each one designed specifically
for different groups of young people of varying ages and abilities.
Projects
Apart from consultation events we also organise projects across South Ayrshire.
Projects that south Ayrshire have recently organised are :
Scottish Book Trust Project
This project was to try out a new recourse which will be available in 2011, it was
to make Young people more aware about money, and how it matters to them. The SAYF
Members involved were given a budget which they had to keep and then use what they
had for a treat in there 3rd week. They read the book and highlighting any changes
that they think should be made to it, and commented on the illustrations.
South Ayrshire Teambuilding Training
The Teambuilding project was for South Ayrshire Youth Forum Members to work together
more as a group. We held a three day project in Troon and also had one day also
Panning for Gold in Wanlockhead. This project was also a great success and we look
forward to doing another project like this in the Future.
