South Ayrshire Trading Standards believes in working together with the local
farming community to help them meet their legal responsibilities as regards the
welfare and recording of stock. One way we have set out to achieve this is by
launching our free Farming Information Pack for South Ayrshire farmers. Anyone
who owns livestock has many legal responsibilities, e.g. keeping adequate records
of movement and welfare whilst in their care. These responsibilities are detailed
in many Regulations and Acts of Parliament. Our information pack is intended to
help you understand the basics of what is required under this legislation and
to provide a contact for further, more specialised guidance and information if
and when you require it. The advice pack is partly made up by information
leaflets from Trading Standards, MAFF (SEERAD) & SEPA. Added to this information
is an explanation of what Animal Health Officers from South Ayrshire Council do
and what they look for when they visit. These same officers are available to hand
deliver the pack to your premises which can help with any initial questions you
may have. The contact details of the this officer will also be contained
in the pack and he/she will be available should you require any advice or assistance
in the future, however you can keep the pack as a guide and refer to it whenever
the need arises. We have also used the opportunity to gather some other information
that may be of use to a farm and added that to the pack too. |
