Surrounding Villages - Prestwick and Troon Area

Barassie
Barassie lies between Troon and Irvine offering magnificent views over to the Isle of Arran. With a wide expanse of sandy beach and a grassy area with a putting green, this is a popular spot for picnics.

Craigie
The quiet attractive village of Craigie is set in the hills ten miles north-east of Troon, with a church, an inn, a few houses and an ancient hill.

Drybridge
Drybridge is a hamlet which takes its name from the road bridge which crosses the railway, as it was reputed to be the first bridge built in Ayrshire which did not cross water; not far away is the "Wet Bridge" which was the first railway bridge to be built over water in Scotland.

Dundonald
The village of Dundonald lies on the B730 three miles north of Troon. Dundonald Castle is arguably the only medieval Royal Castle in Scotland which is still recognisable.

Monkton
The village of Monkton is situated close to the runways of Glasgow Prestwick International Airport, offering excellent views for plane spotters. The Navy Base HMS Gannet and a British Aerospace factory are located here.

Symington
Part of this charming village has been designated a Conservatioin Area, mainly as a result of the many attractive buildings which still remain in the village to this day.

Between Symington and Tarbolton you can find Hayes Garden Land, well worth a visit.

Tarbolton
Tarbolton is situated east of Prestwick and is dominated by its tall parish church. The village is also famous for its links with Robert Burns.
