Public Private Partnership
The contract between South Ayrshire Council and the consortium Education 4 Ayrshire
(E4A) was signed in December 2006. Construction by the main building contractor
Carillion commenced shortly after that in January 2007. December 2009 marked the
final construction phase of the councils ambitious £76 million Public Private
Partnership (PPP) Project.
Kyle Academy Annexe,
the first project to be completed, has been operational since October 2007. It was
officially opened by Councillor Hywel Davies in February 2008.
The accommodation consists mainly of an Assembly Hall, an e-learning suite and further
smaller ancillary spaces.
Alloway
Primary School was phased construction, with Phase I being available in
April 2008 and the final phase was completed in January 2009. The new school is
located within the grounds of the existing school. The single storey building features
linked teachings wings, central entrance with a public library, double height games/assembly
hall, administration area, catering and dining facilities and nursery provision.
Alloway was officially opened on Monday 26th January 2009 by Fiona
Hyslop MSP, cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning.
The Alloway building includes the provision of a Library, which was opened on Tuesday
26th May 2009 by Councillor Margaret Toner, Depute Leader of South Ayrshire Council.

The construction of
Barassie Primary School, was phased with overall completion and occupation
around November 2008. Landscaping and external works were completed early 2009.
The single storey building will include classrooms, nursery, administration area,
catering and dining facilities, double height games/assembly hall and a central
sheltered courtyard.
The official opening was held on Wednesday 25 March 2009 by Provost
Winifred Sloan. The school was built on the old site and it includes a nursery.

Monkton
Primary School, a replacement school, built on the existing site. The school
was occupied in January 2008 with the external works completed in April of 2008.
The school was officially opened on 12 June 2008 by the Leader
of the Council, Councillor Hugh Hunter

Belmont Academy
was fully completed early 2009, although the building was occupied from the start
of the session 2008/09. The official opening took place on Thursday, 11 June
2009 by Major Sir Richard Henderson, KCVO, TD. The school boasts state
of the art teaching accommodation and excellent outdoor facilities.

Prestwick
Academy, the final school handed over to South Ayrshire Council was a phased
construction and occupation. The school has been built on the existing site and
over three levels. The accommodation includes excellent teaching facilities, sports
fields and an all weather astroturf pitch which was funded by Big Lottery Fund.
Prestwick was officially opened on Thursday 22 October 2009 by
the Rt. Hon. Lord Ian Lang of Monkton.
