Free school meals


Children aged 2-5

Applications for free school meals for children aged 2 to 5 will be accepted from parents/ carers who meet the eligibility criteria and whose child attends a local authority or partnership centre providing early learning and childcare for more than 4 hours a day and over the lunchtime period.

Any income related element of Employment and Support Allowance Letter of Award
Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 Letter of Award

Primary and Secondary school children

All school children in Primary 1, 2, and 3 are entitled to free school meals which is to the value of £2.10 per day.

Other pupils may be entitled to free school meals if they meet the qualifying criteria.

Free school meals application forms

An application for free school meals does not require to be submitted for P1 - P3 pupils but will be required for a Clothing Grant.

South Ayrshire Council would like to process your application as quickly as possible. The best way to ensure this happens is to bring your completed application form and relevant supporting documentation to one of our customer service centres.
