Examining Future Education Needs - Update
The Director of Education, Culture and Education updated Members of the Council's Leadership Panel on the progress made with the review of the school estate. The reviews relating to Special Schools, Colmonell and Pinwherry Primary Schools, and Straiton Primary School have now been completed. The reviews involving Ayr Grammar Primary, Whitletts Primary and Secondary Provision in Troon are now underway and officers from the department are engaging with key stakeholders in taking them forward. A copy of the director's report can be obtained by clicking on the report below.
The technical assessment of schools is also underway and is being undertaken by officers in Education, Culture and Lifelong Learning in consultation with schools, the Council’s Property and Design Services and Estate Services. The technical assessment will determine the extent of any work required to modernise a school to a standard fit for the 21st century. Suitability and condition information will be used along with the Council’s benchmark schedules of accommodation for a primary school and secondary school. The outcome of this exercise will identify the overall work that needs to be carried out on a school, whether or not the work is possible or feasible and the likely cost. A copy of the technical assessment programme is available by clicking on the spreadsheet below.
Thank you for your continued contribution and assistance with this important exercise.
