Community Safety |
Vandalism remains the biggest volume crime in South Ayrshire. It is also very much a key public concern; the partnership's goal is 'to reduce acts of vandalism and related anti-social behaviour being committed in South Ayrshire'. The partnership's approach to this issue, particularly in relation to protecting public property, such as schools, is in keeping with recent guidance issued by Audit Scotland to Local Authorities.
The financial costs of vandalism to the public purse are considerable. The allocation of resources to areas where related anti-social behaviour and vandalism occur will not only improve our environment but also achieve direct savings on vandalism costs. Joint working to reduce acts of fire-raising, hoax and malicious calls to the Fire Brigade in South Ayrshire are also being addressed.
