Group Targeted
Target all residents and visitors to Ayr Shore area.
Community Safety Partnership Priority
To provide a safe, trouble free and pleasant environment for visitors and residents living within the area of Ayr Shore.
Aims
To detect and deter antisocial behaviour in the area through high profile enforcement and public reassurance patrols involving police and partner agencies.
To create a sustainable framework to address emerging problems quickly and effectively and establish strategies for longer term success.,
Approach
The methodology employed to achieve the aims was based around the principles of strong enforcement allied to public reassurance and would require, at it’s foundation, increased high visibility police patrols backed up by specific plans to address specific issues involving police and other agencies.
Methodology
The public reassurance/ enforcement element of the initiative was directed through the development of a general action plan covering the duration of the initiative and smaller time or issue specific action plans working to the principles of the general plan but involving a more multifaceted response.

Strathclyde Police, ASB Team, South Ayrshire Council Community Safety, Cleansing Environmental Health.
Evaluation
Process
Evaluation would take the form of analyzing police statistical information as well as qualitative data. Questionnaires were sent to over a thousand residents before and after the initiative to ascertain if the initiative had any effect.
Evaluation Impact
Police statistics show that youth disorder, car nuisance and general nuisance complaints were significantly down.
Furthermore there was a marked increase in pro-activity and commitment from all agencies.
Results from the questionnaire are pending.
Criticism
A better media campaign and use of problem solving approach to look at use of the shelters.
Potential
The initiative proved to be very successful and it will be continued next year.
