Community Safety |
Travelling to and from school can present problems for many people. In some places within South Ayrshire school related traffic accounts for over 50% of peak hour traffic. To help achieve an improved, safer and healthier approach to school travel the Scottish Government has awarded South Ayrshire Council £580,000 to implement 20 mph zones and other road safety related projects in and around schools.
Schools are being encouraged to develop School Travel Plans in order to help the Council determine where and what the funding should be spent on.
Some schools have already developed School Travel Plans and these are available for viewing in the Members Library at the County Buildings.
