Road Safety
The Partnership goal is 'to reduce road crashes and casualties in South Ayrshire' which will complement the current work of the Police and Council. The physical and social impact of road accidents on individual and partner organisations indicates that this must be a key objective for the Partnership. It is already a well-developed issue at national and local levels with the Police and local Authorities being very active in prevention. There is scope for the Partnership to add to this effort by raising its profile within partner organisations and encouraging more prioritised and focused working with the public.
A programme of education, publicity and training is central to the road safety message from the Partnership. Increased use of camera technology to influence driver behaviour, innovative design solutions to road infrastructure to encourage appropriate road user behaviour and a coordinated approach to the integration of Road Safety, Community Safety and Health promotion will underpin each of the Partnership objectives.
