South Ayrshire Monitoring Station (SAMS)

What do we do?

SAMS provides a monitoring service 24 hours per day, 365 day per year and monitors all public space CCTV systems in South Ayrshire Council area. These are located in Ayr Town Centre, Girvan, Maybole, Prestwick and Troon; a total of 96 cameras are monitored. Cameras are also within the Lochside and Dalmilling areas of Ayr. The Monitoring Station is based at The John Pollock Centre, Ayr.

  • SAMS monitors 3 schools, a museum and a bowling green for the Council
  • SAMS provides a series of monitoring services to Ayrshire and Arran NHS
  • SAMS also receives out of hours roads and lighting faults, which are passed on to an on-call engineer
  • SAMS receives out of hourse housing emergency repairs from council and linked housing association tenants. Emergency faults are passed to appropriate standby tradesmen
  • SAMS operates the community alarms receiving centre for South and North Ayrshire Councils. It also operates as the sheltered housing 'out of hours' alarm receiving centre for both Councils
  • SAMS monitors lone worker systems for partner agencies
  • SAMS acts as a link in the NHS integrated care system which links on-call doctors to the NHS triage centre during 'out of hours' periods
  • SAMS support the multi-agency initiative on Domestic Abuse.
