Community Safety Partnership

Youth Project – Opinion Zone Software

This project has been jointly funded by the community safety partnership and the multi-agency partnership on domestic abuse.

A piece of Software named ‘Opinion Zone’ has been commissioned for development by Creative Edge Web Services and Sirius Concepts. This software is an artwork based tool which would be used by children, and young people to allow them to explore a wide range of different issues, one of which is domestic abuse, but it will also encompass a variety of other issues around discrimination, such as racism and disability.

Within the software there is a clipart section, which will encompass many pictures that would not normally be found in children’s art software, for example, broken glass, although it will have an equal amount of positive images.

The software also has an administration section, which allows the service-provider to see how the child felt before, and after they accessed the software (there is a section which asks the child this before and after they use it). It also allows room for comment from a worker on the child beside a child’s name/artwork, which can be accessed at a later date to look for signs of improvement
