Domestic Abuse - Training

South Ayrshire's Community Safety Partnership - supported by South Ayrshire’s Multi-Agency Partnership - is committed to producing a social awareness of the issue of domestic abuse. In order to achieve this there are currently two stages of multi-agency training on offer.

Limited places for both stages are currently available free of charge for South Ayrshire based service providers in both the voluntary and statutory sector.
There is a light lunch provided.
A comprehensive handout pack relating to the work covered will be made available on the day.

Domestic Abuse Is A Serious Social Problem...
Dismatling Domestic Abuse Requires
A Social and Professional Commitment At All Levels

As service providers:

our knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse
our attitude to domestic abuse

our social and service related responses to domestic abuse

are factors which can have a profound impact on the lives of women and children who have experienced domestic abuse

It is envisaged that future 'Dismantling Domestic Abuse' training days will be developed through feedback and consultation with individuals, projects and departments as the programme progresses.

About the training: This will be an opportunity for service providers to develop a greater understanding of domestic abuse and how it can impact on the lives of women and children.

Who is the training aimed at?: All individuals, including Managers, Volunteers and Students - who work with or provide a service for women and children.

What is required of participants?: A willingness to look at the causes and effects of male abuse of women and children.

Research has shown over time and across cultures the pattern of systematic violence in the home is overwhelmingly male violence directed at women partners. Whilst it is recognised that there are violent women and children within our society the 'Dismantling Domestic Abuse' programme will concentrate on the issue of Male Violence Against Women and Children.
