Community Safety |
The Community Safety Partnership is supporting the Women’s Centre to deliver two initiatives, which will have positive impacts on the lives of vulnerable women.
Commonly, women who have been under the power of control of men have very low assertiveness skills, self-esteem and confidence. If women can take back for themselves that power over their own lives it will assist them in becoming independent and empowered and to succeed and survive. The Women’s Centre is offering the opportunity, for women who have experienced domestic abuse, to participate in Assertiveness Training in a non-threatening environment.
Women living with a controlling partner, or with low self-esteem can find it difficult to prioritise their physical and mental health. Accessing the Healthy Living Group will encourage women to change to a healthier way of life. This will be done by offering dietary advice, a peer discussion group, exercise opportunities, health food tasting, providing weight records and input from health professionals to raise awareness of the importance of diet, exercise and health checks.
