Apply for a Skip Permit

To place a skip on a public road within South Ayrshire (except the A77 or A78 Trunk Road), the skip owner is required to obtain a skip permit from South Ayrshire Council as roads authority.

If a skip is placed on the public road without first obtaining a permit an offence is committed under Section 85(1) of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984.

To place a skip on the A77 or A78 Trunk Road, within South Ayrshire, the skip owner should obtain a skip permit from Amey who operate and maintain the trunk road network in South West Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government.
