Road Permits and Charges

If you propose to carry out works in a public road you require the permission of South Ayrshire Council, Roads Services as Roads Authority.

If your works require you to close a road or to occupy or open part of a road (i.e. carriageway, footway, footpath or verge etc), there is a requirement under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to obtain permission from South Ayrshire Council as Roads Authority.

The permit charges are listed below.

Permits are valid for a period of up to 4 weeks. Applications for longer periods will be charged in 4 week blocks i.e skip permit for 16 weeks pays 4 x £35 = £140
