Marriages
Renewal of Vows
South Ayrshire Council can now offer you the opportunity to celebrate and reaffirm
your commitment to each other as married couple, in a personal and unique Renewal
of Vows ceremony.

The ceremony can be to mark a special anniversary, a recommitment to each other
following a difficult period in your life, or an opportunity for couples who have
been married abroad to share their celebration with family and friends at home.
It is open to any married couple, at any stage of marriage.
In consultation with the celebrant, you can include special readings, selected music,
the rededication of rings or giving of new rings, to create a solemn and dignified
occasion in which you can involve your children, chosen family members and friends.
A Renewal of Vows Ceremony can be as individual as the couple arranging it, creating
a unique and personalised ceremony. As part of the ceremony, there will be a signed
certificate witnessed by two of your guests, to keep as a record of the event.
The ceremony is non-religious and can be held at one of our Registration Offices, a selection of Approved
Venues. Be aware however, that the ceremony has no legal standing and is not legally
binding for those taking part.
Registration Offices
Ceremonies held within a Registration Office can be conducted during normal office
hours on weekdays and by arrangement on Saturday afternoons. Ceremonies held at
Approved Venues or other alternative locations can
be conducted seven days a week and on public holidays (excluding 25th and 26th of
December, 1st and 2nd of January) between 9.00am and 7.00pm.
For more information or to book your ceremony, please contact any of our
Registration Offices.
