Loudoun Hall
Loudoun Hall is one of the oldest buildings
in Ayr and is situated in Boat Vennal near the River Ayr, almost directly opposite
the bottom of the High Street.
Built for James Tait, a wealthy merchant in the late 1400’s, it later became the
townhouse of the Campbells of Loudoun in the 16th Century, before being rescued
from demolition and restored by the 4th Marquis of Bute.
Ceremonies in Loudoun Hall take place in the Main Hall situated on the first floor,
which can accommodate the wedding party and up to 30 seated guests.
The paved and landscaped forecourt area is pedestrianised and offers an interesting
area for photographs with feature walls, scented flowerbeds and items highlighting
local connections.
