Strategic Environmental Assessment

The environmental report has been prepared in accordance with Section 5 (3) of the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005. The Act requires an SEA to be carried out on the South Ayrshire Local Development Plan, given it is likely to have a significant environmental effect. The process of carrying out a strategic environmental assessment has influenced the outcomes of the proposed plan by subjecting all policies, sites and strategies within the plan to an assessment to determine whether it is appropriate for inclusion in the plan and whether its environmental performance can be enhanced.

The environmental report details the findings of a strategic environmental assessment, by setting out assessment methodology and reporting on outcomes of detailed assessments; while the associate appendices show the assessments that were undertaken on each aspect of the plan.
