Development Planning
Local Development Plan Project Board
At a meeting of South Ayrshire Council on 12 March 2009, the Council approved the
formation of an Elected Member/Officer Local Development Plan Project Board. This
Board has responsibility for overseeing the process of preparing South Ayrshire’s
Local Development Plan. This is intended to ensure that the preparation of the Plan
meets key deadlines, and that the form and content of the Plan are appropriate.
The Board will also oversee the consultation measures undertaken throughout the
process.
The following Elected Members were established as comprising the Project Board for
the LDP:
- Councillor Margaret Toner as Portfolio holder for Economic Development, Tourism
and Leisure (Chair);
- Councillor Peter Convery as Portfolio holder for Sustainability and the Environment;
- Councillor Douglas Campbell as Portfolio holder for Housing and Customer First;
- Councillors Ian Fitzsimmons and Alec Oates as Chair and vice chair (respectively)
of Regulatory Panel;
- Councillor John McDowall as Chair of Development and Environment Standing Scrutiny
Panel; and,
- Councillor John Allan as Chair of Community Services Standing Scrutiny Panel.
In addition, the Board will be attended by the Depute Chief Executive and Director
of Development and Environment, Head of Planning & Enterprise, Planning Manager
and Senior Planning Officers.
The Board will meet several times a year and at regular intervals so that progress
on key aspects of the Local Development Plan can be fed back to the board for consideration.
