Development Management and Business Change

Development Management's role within Planning is to process various planning and related applications made to the Council and consider development proposals in the context of National and Council Planning Policy. It is through this process that the Council is able to develop and maintain a high quality, sustainable environment in which the people of South Ayrshire live and work. You will find details online about application forms, guidance notes, and planning policy notes to assist you with specific aspects of submitting an application to South Ayrshire.

The Development Management service includes the following:

  • Provision of planning advice
  • Pre-application discussions with agents and applicants
  • Processing of planning applications as well as applications relating to:
  • Listed Buildings
  • Advertisements
  • Conservation Areas
  • Hazardous Substances
  • Prior Notification e.g. forestry, agricultural, telecommunications and statutory undertakers
  • Certificate of lawfulness

Planning Applications

We encourage applications to be submitted online via eplanning Scotland.

You can view, track and comment on current planning applications online. Accessing Planning Applications Online gives advice on accessing planning application information. Please be aware that there may be a few days delay from our receiving an application or information and it being made available online.

For applicants, please note that we only issue decision notices. Copies of drawings to which the decision relates do not accompany a decision notice. The drawings to which these decisions relate are specified within the decision notice and will be published via the Council's website until such time as the right of appeal has expired.

From this website you can also view limited information relating to archived Planning Applications.
