Main Issues Report
The Main Issues Report sets out options for change on key planning policies and
on where development should and should not occur. Its main purpose is to stimulate
discussion and feedback on key planning issues to shape future stages of the Local
Development Plan. The Main Issues Report, Environmental Report and Monitoring Statement
can all be viewed via the following links:
Note on Site Assessment:
The sites submitted via the Call for Sites
have been assessed as part of
the Main Issues Report. The maps shown on pages 10 -13 of the Report show, through
a traffic light analysis, cumulative impact of constraints affecting the sites.
The full methodology for this process is contained within the Environmental Report
(page 52-53). The assessment of each site is contained within the Assessment Matrices
on Sites
. Please be aware that this process is intended to identify constraints,
which will, in turn, assist in identifying sites for development at future stages
of the Plan. However, this process is not a commitment to releasing any particular
site for development, or otherwise, at this stage.

Consultation
An 8-week consultation period on the Main Issues Report commenced on 17th May 2010
and has now closed. Comments and correspondence received during the consultation
period are now being considered.
A series of four community discussion sessions across South Ayrshire were also held
during May and June 2010, with a further drop-in session held in Prestwick. A report
presenting the findings from these community sessions has been produced by Nick
Wright, an independent planning consultant, who also chaired the community sessions.
The report also provides a summary of participants' feedback together with an independent
evaluation of the events. The report can be viewed here.
A digest of representations made during the Main Issues Report consultation can
