Public Performance Reporting
Your Council

- Our vision is “to establish South Ayrshire as the most dynamic, inclusive and sustainable community in Scotland”. We will achieve this by working in partnership to deliver services and create opportunities that reflect the needs and priorities of the people of South Ayrshire.
- 30 elected Councillors are responsible for setting policy, decision-making and scrutinising all aspects of Council services.
- Council business is agreed at Council meetings which involve all Councillors on five occasions throughout the year. Supporting this, a Leadership Panel, comprising of seven Councillors, meets 10 times a year and is responsible for progressing day-to-day decision-making for all services with the exception of Licensing and Planning which have dedicated Panels.
- The decisions of the Leadership Panel are scrutinised by three Scrutiny Panels that can call-in individual decisions and examine them in more detail. The Scrutiny Panels also carry out a range of service reviews throughout the year – the outcomes of which are referred to the Leadership Panel for its consideration.
- Members of the public are welcome to attend all of these meetings, to see their Council at work and to hear particular issues being discussed. You can find details of all meetings and view the relevant papers or minutes on the Council’s website or by telephoning 0300 123 0900.
- Each year the Leadership Panel prepares an annual report, highlighting the work of the Panel and the achievements of the Council. This can also be found on the Council’s website.
