Public Performance Reporting

Schools

  • We are raising levels of attainment and achievement by giving children and young people opportunities to fully develop their personality, talents and mental and physical abilities.
  • This starts with quality pre-schooling, where children learn as they play, building on valuable home learning, and preparing for primary school.
  • Pre-five education and childcare is available for three and four year olds in 32 nursery schools/classes and in 18 partnership centres.
  • The curriculum in 45 primary, nine secondary and three specialist schools addresses national priorities for education – attainment & achievement, framework for learning, equality & inclusion, values & citizenship and learning for life.
  • In 2005/6, our secondary pupils performed as well as in 2004/2005, doing better than both the Ayrshire and the Scottish average.
  • 92% gained awards in English and Maths at SCQF level 3 (e.g. Standard Grade Foundation) or better by the end of S4. (Scottish average 91%)
  • 38% attained five or more awards at SCQF level 5 (e.g. Standard Grade Credit) or better by the end of S4. (Scottish average 34%)
  • By the end of S5, 25% of the previous year’s S4 year group attained three or more awards at SCQF level 6 (Higher) or better. (Scottish average 21%)
  • By the end of S6, 22% of the S4 year group from two years previously attained five or more awards at SCQF level 6 (Higher) or better. (Scottish average 19%)
