| Open Space Policy |
Open space contributes significantly to the quality of life within urban and rural settlements, most obviously by meeting the demands for outdoor active sports and informal recreation. It also plays a vital role in the provision of a green landscape framework, which contributes to the visual quality of the area, and creates linkages between open spaces and with the open countryside.
The South Ayrshire Local Plan recognises this important role of open space, and identifies the main areas it is in favour of safeguarding. The Local Plan Policy "SERV 21" covers the portection of open space.
