Parks Management - Open Space Policy
Within any settlement, urban or rural, there is a need for
sufficient areas of open space which are publicly accessible
and which fulfil a vanety of functions. The Council's Parks
and Planning Services work closely together on the provision
of open space in new developments, to ensure that the design
of new developments incorporate high quality open space.
The Council's Planning Policy no. 4 is concerned with the
provision of public open space within settlements,
with specific reference to its quality, quantity, and function.
As private open space complements the role played by
public open space, it is also addressed in this policy statement.
