Craigie Estate woodland can be divided into two areas, - River Ayr Walk, and the areas adjacent to the main drive.
The woodland next to the river is a typical mixed wood with
Holly, Beech, Sycamore and Lime. The native undergrowth is
developing well with wild flowers such as Bluebells, Wood
Anemones and Red Campions all being present.
As you enter the main drive of the Estate the area to your
left is predominantly Sycamore with some Beech. Each spring
this area has a carpet of flowers Crocus, Daffodil, Bluebell
and later Wild Garlic. Further up to the right and the left
is a better mix of trees, with Sycamore, Beech, Acer, Horse
Chestnut and Scots Pine; you will often find squirrels in
this area. Progress further and to the right is a mini woodland
of Beech with mature trees and a natural regeneration of
Beech coming from the woodland floor.
