Wildlife - Ballantrae Shorefront
With Ballantrae beach being a mixture of sand and shingle
there is a range of wildlife to be seen. The shingle beach,
which provides a habitat to one of the few remaining breeding
colonies of little tern in the Clyde area. Also to be found
breeding here are the common and arctic tern, and a range
of other coastal birdlife, including waders, geese and swans!
In the sand and mud areas you will find their main foods,
- invertebrates mud snails, lugworms and ragworms.
