Historic Places - Loudoun Hall, Ayr

Loudoun Hall was built c.1513 with the north wing being added in 1534. It's the earliest surviving example of a Town House suitable for a rich merchant. It was designed to be a comfortable dwelling, comprising three floors, rubble built with slate roof.

The building was saved from demolition at the time of slum clearances by the Marquess of Bute and later restored from 1948 by Robert Hurd.

It is today leased to South Ayrshire Council by the trustees of Loudoun Hall and is used by various groups and societies for meetings and events.
