Sites of Private and/or Unknown Ownership
As part of the process of setting the Council budget for 2009/10, the Council decided to adopt an efficiency measure
which involved discontinuing grounds maintenance on sites of private or unknown ownership. In April 2009, letters
were sent out to 57 registered land owners of 59 green space sites identified as being of ‘unknown or private ownership’
but which were currently maintained by the Council. This letter provided landowners with an opportunity to make arrangements
for grounds maintenance of the green space assets contained within these sites by August 2009. Regrettably, the response
to date has been poor and the Council now requires to discontinue all grounds maintenance at these sites.
