Residents - Loading Permits

A Type A Loading permit is available to residents in Carrick Street, Hope Street and Newmarket Street. The permit is valid in the street in which the applicant is resident. It can be used for loading and unloading by private car after 4.30pm and before 10.30am. It must not be used between 10.30am and 4.30pm

Type A permits are renewable annually and are valid from 4 quarterly dates in the year, namely 1st March, 1st June, 1st September and 1st December. A permit applied for between two of these dates will run from the beginning of the current quarter. Permits running from the start of the next quarter may be applied for up to 14 days in advance.

Before a loading permit can be issued, the Council must be satisfied that the applicant is entitled to a permit. You therefore must supply certain documentation to confirm your address and the registration number of your vehicle.

Examples of acceptable documentation are:

  • Confirmation of address: any document from an official source so long as it includes your address or headed note paper from your business (if applicable)
  • Confirmation of registration number: any document from an official source so long as it includes your vehicle registration number, e.g. insurance document or vehicle registration document.
