Festival feeling for this year's awards

Now is your chance to nominate a young person for a South Ayrshire Youth Forum Award 2015. The awards recognise the achievements of young people that live in South Ayrshire aged between 14 and 25 years.

These achievements could be sporting or for volunteering in their local community. Perhaps they are helping others to go 'green' or entertaining the elderly. Young people nominated in previous years have inspired all age groups with their generosity and skills. The awards recognise young people that have gone that extra mile to achieve their goals and help others.

There are 14 categories to choose from such as 'Unsung Hero', 'Community Involvement' or 'Volunteering'.

Councillor Margaret Toner, Lifelong Learning Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "Young people across South Ayrshire are making a huge difference to the lives of many and we should recognise their selfless contributions. I am sure we all know a well deserving young person who should be recognised, so this is the perfect opportunity to sing their praises."

Chair of the South Ayrshire Youth Forum Kirsty McCahill said: "The South Ayrshire Youth Forum Awards gives outstanding young people the chance to be recognised for the amazing things that they do, but we need everyone to get involved in the nomination process so that we hear about them! If you know a young person who deserves recognition, it could not be easier to nominate them for a SAYF award.

Anyone can nominate a young person aged between 14 and 25 years who lives in South Ayrshire. For more information on the categories and to submit your nomination go to or call 01292 559390. You can also nominate at South Ayrshire Council libraries.

The Youth Forum Awards Roadshow will be touring all South Ayrshire secondary schools. Details of the roadshow can be found at

Nominations close on Friday 6 November

Once all nominations are in, a panel of experienced youth workers will assess them and three finalists from each category will be invited to attend an awards ceremony where the winner will be announced!
