Ayrshire's newest Tourism Champions have been hard at work in recent weeks, offering a warm and friendly welcome to visitors at Prestwick Airport.

Tourism Champions are volunteers, enthusiastic and dedicated local people who provide a warm welcome and information for visitors to the area, giving their time freely to create a truly memorable experience for visitors, with the ultimate aim of encouraging more people to visit and stay longer in the area.

Volunteers Ashley Brant and Amy Stewart, travel and tourism students at Ayrshire College (Ayr Campus), received a lot of positive feedback from visitors, grateful for such a positive welcome from happy and helpful Tourism Champions.

In particular, visitors commented on the help and support that was offered by Ashley and Amy who assisted with travel directions, transport advice, suggestions for what to see and do, holiday accommodation and restaurant recommendations, ensuring people would have an enjoyable stay in Ayrshire; as well helping travellers with their onward journeys.

The volunteers assisted and provided local information to over 100 visitors during their sessions.

Ashley said: "My experience as a volunteer at Prestwick Airport was intriguing and helped me understand more about the airport and why people travel to and from Prestwick Airport. We answered enquiries from passengers about airport facilities as well as some attractions in Ayrshire and Arran. There was a great interest on the Isle of Arran. I really enjoyed my time volunteering."

Further induction sessions and volunteering opportunities will be taking place throughout November and December, so to get involved and sign up visit or
