South Ayrshire Council runs a highly successful junior golf coaching programme between May and September, introducing young players to the game and building their skills through a series of structured lessons and practice.

Competition is a key part in helping the golfers put theory and practice into live play and fourteen budding champions have taken to the course at the Haven Craig Tara Holiday Park, as part of their summer long training programme.

In 2011 almost 200 children have been participating, mainly using Golf South Ayrshire courses but the Haven resort of Craig Tara, Ayr has kindly given permission to hold two events on their fantastic par three, nine hole course, normally reserved for residents of Craig Tara.

They were joined by Councillors Margaret Toner, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Tourism and Mary Kilpatrick, Depute Provost.
