Take To The Water At Girvan Boating Pond
Girvan boating pond is now open every weekend from 12 noon to 5 pm for local people and visitors who would like to take to the water.
During the summer people flock to the esplanade at Girvan and the boating pond is a popular attraction. It is available at weekends throughout the summer with the last day of operating being Sunday 29 August 2010.
Councillor Margaret Toner, Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure Portfolio Holder said: "With outstanding views out to sea, Ailsa Craig dominating the horizon, a shorefront that is a mixture of sand and shingle and a promenade running the entire length there is something for everyone at Girvan beach. Stair Park adjacent to the promenade makes the perfect place for a picnic.
"The boating pond is something that attracts many people and I know that it will bring a lot of pleasure to many."
The charges for using the boating pond are:
- Pedal boat 20 minutes £2.50
- 4 person rowing boat 20 minutes £2.50

There is also a putting green available at the esplanade at a charge of £1.50 per round.
As part of the Council's programme of summer activities across South Ayrshire a number of summer beach activities will also take place at Girvan beach. There is no need to book for activities, an adult simply needs to turn up on the day and book their child in. A registration table will be situated on the grass areas beside the boating pond. Activities over the summer holidays will include beach arts, a seaside fun trail, shore exploration, a big beach games day and sand magic.
