South Ayrshire Provost Helen Moonie, keen to help raise funds to support the people of Nepal following the earthquakes in their country, attended a fundraising evening in Troon Concert Hall recently.
The event was organised by the Nepalise community in Ayrshire, many of whom have family and friends who were caught up in this disaster. Provost Moonie said: "When the earthquakes struck in Nepal they brought devastation on a scale that has left the country needing all the support it can get, so that people can start to rebuild their lives and their communities.
"This charity event was one of many taking place to raise much needed funds for the people of Nepal and I was very glad to support the evening. A magnificent sum of £831 was raised which will be used to provide much needed aid."
The event was sponsored by Ayrshire Minority Ethnic Community Group, Ayrshire Sikh Association, Ayrshire Nepalise Association, Maharni Restaurant in Troon and VIP Entertainments.
